A Wizards Tale

A Wizard’s Tale is more than a game. It is actually an interactive movie that allows you to play a role in the storyline. As expected, you, the player, are the wizard that has to solve mysteries and fight mystical creatures. The game is designed in Flash, and the graphics are quite nice, which allows you to be immersed in the story as the adventure progresses. As far as the gameplay is concerned, this is a ‘point and click’ type of game, where you use your mouse to talk to other characters, to find out information about various items, to interact with the environment, and even to kill monsters.

The first scene of this interactive story takes you to a castle, where a princess lives. The wizard walks the hallways until he reaches the Bookroom, from which he must take a book that will serve him in his quests. Short messages on the screen will give you hints on how to continue your quest. For instance, when the wizard stands in front of the Bookroom door, a message will let you know that the door is closed. With a single click of your mouse, you will make the door open before you. Afterwards, you will find yourself in front of some library shelves, where you will have to take a book from there.

Interaction with other characters is made through dialog. For instance, when you try to access the door to the Royal Room, you will not simply waltz through it, like you did in the Bookroom. A scary looking guard, yielding his long spear, will prevent you from going in. In order to get inside the room and find out what the princess wants from you, you will have to talk to the guard and convince him that you are on a special mission. Several answer options will pop out and you will have to choose the one that will grant you access inside the Royal Room.

A different type of action will be required once you embark on the real quest. At some point, you will be required to slay some dragons, where your magic staff will do its fair share of work. These parts of the game require some shooting skills, as well as a bit of memory, since you will have to quickly put the dragons to sleep, as you may not nail all of them right from the start.

As the story progresses, you will find yourself more and more immersed in it. Make sure that you complete your quest, so that the princess is content with you.
